Finance Officer

Fixed Term, Term Time Only (until 31st December 2023)

37 hours per week / 44.5 paid weeks per year

£30,984- £34,373 per annum, pro rata (£26,515 - £29,415 actual salary per annum)

Grade 8 (SCP 26-30)

Ludlow Junior School is in the heart of the Itchen & Woolston Community and has around 560 pupils on roll.

As a large Junior Community Academy School with our most recent Ofsted inspection rating us as “Good”, we have an opportunity to take the next step to outstanding as we develop into a lead Multi Academy Trust and continue to improve our school - in particular our learning environments and site - the goal is excellence for every member of our school community.

We are a single status academy and presently working towards being a lead school in a multi academy trust (MAT).  Our vision is to open opportunities for staff to develop, and support or work collegiately with other schools across the MAT as the trust develops.

Joining our Operation Support Team, we are looking for a strong administrator with experience of working in a Finance environment to help us meet our financial obligations. Previous school experience and knowledge of Finance IT systems such as Civica/Resource 2000 and Parentmail/PlusPay would be advantageous although not essential.  A background in finance management is essential in order that you may effectively support the School Leadership Team and provide an integral resource that supports the school’s internal and audit scrutiny.

Your responsibilities will be varied and include operational tasks that include, but not limited to, initiating purchase orders, receipt of goods and payment of invoices, up to and including financial reporting and reconciling, and contributing to budget planning.  With excellent professional and interpersonal skills, you will be able to multitask and demonstrate consistent and accurate attention to detail.

You will be able to show honesty and integrity, demonstrate levels of responsibility and accountability, and will actively contribute to encouraging others to achieve expectations.  You will have a solution-based approach and be able to show a high pace of quality work, being adaptable and confident at embracing change, learning from experiences and challenges.

The start date will be no later than 7 November 2022 and will include a 3-week handover with the incumbent Finance Officer.  The role is term-time working however there will be a need for mandatory overtime during school closure periods, to ensure that regularity is maintained for provision of month end routines.  Days of work negotiable with the School Business Manager and in line with the school calendar.

There will be practical skills tests, leading to a formal panel interview on 09th September 2022
